For this project we were tasked to explore the potential futures for industry and energy in Aurland municipality. Furthermore, we were to come up with different leverage areas which could steer Aurland towards a desirable future.
Today we can see macro trends such as the European energy crisis, the Paris Agreement, and technological opportunities such as pumped-storage hydroelectricity. They are outside the influence of Aurland but change the municipality's conditions. The world is changing, the question is whether Aurland is ready to adapt to this or not.
As the assignment was quite open-ended and this being an introductory course in systems oriented design, we had to learn as we went along. Using different methods learned throughout the course, we have come up with six leverages to aid NatureAct’s future work in Aurland.
